Chordio is an interactive app that makes finding chords and scales fun to learn. It is a powerful music theory and composition tool for music producers, composers, and teachers.
Chord progressions are the foundation of harmony in Western musical tradition from the common practice era of Classical music to the 21st century. Progressions are used to add harmonic content to a song. They are also used to create a sense of 'movement' within music. They can also be used to provide a melody with context and allow the characteristics of a melody to be clearly heard.
The Chordio's musical assistance comes in the form an iPhone, iPad and MacOS app and is compatible on the following devices:
iPhone - Requires iOS 15.0 or later.
iPad - Requires iPadOS 15.0 or later.
Mac - Requires macOS 12.0 (Monterey) or later.
Not yet. For now, just on the iOS platform.
No. When you purchase Chordio for the iPad or macOS, you get the other for free. The iPhone version of the app is purchased separately.
Chordio supports the use of MIDI keyboards through a MIDI connection. By connecting your MIDI keyboard to your computer, you can utilise its capabilities to play the built-in sounds in Chordio, while also visualising the notes and names in real-time. If you're using an iPad, you'll need a "Lightning to USB Camera Adapter" to establish the connection between your MIDI keyboard and the iPad device. This adapter allows you to connect the MIDI cable via a USB port. Once you have everything properly connected, simply access the Settings option within the Chordio app and choose your device from the MIDI devices section.
